Neutral pH Floor Cleaner – Hilway vs Zep

Hilway Direct Neutral Cleaner and Zep Neutral Cleaner are both commercial cleaning products that are designed to clean and maintain various types of flooring. While they are both neutral cleaners, meaning they have a pH close to 7 and are not acidic or alkaline, there are some differences between them that are worth noting.

Ingredients:

Hilway Direct Neutral Cleaner is a water-based, low-foaming cleaner that is free from harsh chemicals, solvents, and abrasives. It contains a blend of surfactants and cleaning agents that are designed to dissolve dirt and grime without damaging the floor. Zep Neutral Cleaner also contains surfactants and cleaning agents, but it also contains some solvents and fragrances that are not present in Hilway Direct Neutral Cleaner.

Applications:

Hilway Direct Neutral Cleaner is designed for use on all types of flooring, including natural stone, ceramic tile, vinyl, and concrete. It is particularly effective at removing stubborn stains and marks from these surfaces. Zep Neutral Cleaner is also suitable for use on a wide range of flooring types, but it may not be as effective at removing stubborn stains as Hilway Direct Neutral Cleaner.

Dilution rates:

Both products require dilution before use. Hilway Direct Neutral Cleaner typically requires a dilution rate of 1:128, or one ounce of cleaner mixed with one gallon of water. Zep Neutral Cleaner can be diluted at a rate of 1:64, aka two ounces of cleaner mixed with each gallon of water. This means that Hilway Direct Neutral Cleaner may be more cost-effective than Zep Neutral Cleaner because it requires less concentrated cleaner per gallon of water because it is a stronger cleaning solution.

Safety:

Both products are generally safe to use when used as directed. However, Hilway Direct Neutral Cleaner is a more eco-friendly product than Zep Neutral Cleaner. It is biodegradable, non-toxic, and VOC-free, making it a better choice for those who are concerned about the environmental impact of cleaning products.

Overall, both Hilway Direct Neutral Cleaner and Zep Neutral Cleaner are effective commercial cleaning products that are suitable for a wide range of flooring types. However, Hilway Direct Neutral Cleaner may be a better choice for those who are looking for an eco-friendly, non-toxic option that is also more cost effective and provides a higher level of cleaning action for stubborn dirt and stains.

      Hello Neil,

We would have to do a further study but at first glance the you’re still using less of the HD Neutral Cleaner compared to Zep or the Renown product.
